Zurich Group Investment Management, Inc. (ZGIM), a part of Zurich North America, is seeking an Investment Accounting & Reporting Director to join the Investment Administration and Accounting (IAA) team. The candidate selected will be located at our Parsippany, NJ office.

IAA is a global function within Zurich Investment Management, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and governance of investment accounting, valuation, and reporting activities across the organization. We safeguard the integrity of investment data, ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements, and deliver insights that shape strategic portfolio and business decisions. Through this critical work, our team plays a central role in strengthening the reliability and credibility of investment information enterprise wide.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Driving engagement, motivation, and accountability across the team
  • Serving as the senior escalation point for complex accounting, valuation, system, and reporting issues, performing expert level review, identifying root causes, and driving corrective actions
  • Providing authoritative interpretation of IFRS, US Statutory (NAIC), US GAAP, and US Tax requirements for new transactions, products, strategies, process changes, and system enhancements
  • Ensuring complete and accurate investment subledger processing, including reconciliations, chartofaccounts maintenance, valuation logic, reporting principles, and servicelevel adherence
  • Overseeing timely, accurate delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual investment accounting results across IFRS, US Statutory (NAIC), US GAAP, and Tax Reporting ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards
  • Owning and continuously strengthening the investment accounting governance and internal control framework, including policy adherence, risk mitigation, and audit readiness
  • Representing the function with internal and external auditors, providing subject matter expertise and ensuring consistent, accurate, and well controlled reporting.
  • Building strong, productive relationships with senior leaders across Investment Management, Finance, Operations, Risk, and Group functions
  • Influencing decisions by providing expert insights and recommendations on investment related accounting impacts for new products, transactions, investment strategies, and system changes
  • Championing simplification, standardization, and automation efforts across accounting and reporting processes, driving operational excellence and scalability
  • Supporting the development and enhancement of tools, workflows, and reporting solutions using technologies such as Python, AI agents, Power BI, and Power Automate
  • Acting as a promoter, ambassador, power user, trainer, or process/product owner within relevant communities, chapters, or squads
  • Ensuring high quality reporting output for internal leadership, Group reporting teams, regulators, and auditors

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Investment Accounting or Finance and 7+ years of experience OR
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 9+ years of experience in investment Accounting or Finance AND
  • Extensive expertise in applying IFRS, US Statutory (NAIC), and US Tax accounting principles to investment accounting

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced knowledge of investment instruments, including fixed income, structured products, private debt, and alternative assets
  • Advanced data analytics expertise.  Skilled in using tools such as Excel, business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and other analytics solutions to support informed decision-making and drive business value
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to anticipate issues, identify opportunities, recommend improvements, and drive operational efficiency
  • Ability to lead and operate independently while balancing multiple strategic priorities in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in driving transformation, automation, and operational excellence initiatives within investment accounting and reporting functions.  
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong motivation to stay current with emerging technologies
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA/CA/ACCA or equivalent)
  • CFA designation is an asset
  • Proficiency with SAP, BW, and/or other investment subledger platforms
  • Proven people's leadership experience, including setting team objectives, running performance management cycles, developing talent, planning workforce needs, and fostering an inclusive, high performing team culture

 

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The proposed salary range for this position is $144,000 - $235,875, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
